Pride Month is about so much more than rainbows, glitter, and parades. It is a celebration of courage, authenticity, and community, rooted in a history of resilience that began with the Stonewall Uprising of 1969. As we honor the progress that has been made, we must also recognize the challenges LGBTQ+ individuals continue to face—particularly young people who experience rejection, housing instability, and barriers to care.

There is a growing disconnect between wanting a job and being prepared to do the work. In human services especially, where relationships are the foundation, we are seeing gaps in accountability, follow-through, and readiness that can no longer be ignored.

Volunteers are not “extra”—they are essential. This National Volunteer Month, we’re honoring those who give their time and inviting you to share your “why” and join us in building something meaningful.
